Pont-y-dulais 1961…

In the spring of 1961 a motive power shortage at Pont-y-dulais led to a third Kerr, Stuart ‘Victory’ operating in South Wales…

The NCB Central Workshop at Walkden found Francis ‘spare’ and she was relocated between February 16th to September 23rd which dates these photos to the spring or summer of that year. Later she moved back to Astley Green and was rebuilt at Walkden with a Geisl ejector the locomotive was scrapped in 1968.

Pont-y-dulais is my OO gauge micro layout, set in South Wales as a colliery branch but a bit of a blank canvas for my industrial modelling interests. At the flick of a switch I can be shuffling a loco and doing a little shunting, the perfect interlude in a busy day, a chance to pause and perhaps consider that ‘work’ problem or grab a peaceful 5-10 minutes in the evening. Small layouts don’t have to be small on ambition, Pont-y-dulais proves again and again it’s worth in my life.

If you would like some help designing a small layout that fits your needs, then get in touch for a personal proposal, layout design starts from just £160. In the meantime, I hope you’ve enjoyed more blatant Victory photos here, my apologies, it seems to be all encompassing at the moment. Until next time, more soon…
