Evening of the season…
The Llangollen Railway's revival post bankruptcy has been a wonderful example of how volunteers drive the heritage railway movement in the United Kingdom...
Whilst watching the fireworks at the weekend I managed to get this wonderfully evocative shot of the Austerity in the dark. Regular timetable trains are now finished for 2022 and with the Santa Specials sold out opportunities for a ride before 2023 are now limited to a few mince pie specials between Christmas and the New Year. As times get harder and we all feel the pinch perhaps volunteering at your local railway is a good way to put something back without costing you the earth - and will help sustain our valuable heritage assets during the expected recession?
I've taken photos through every season in 2022, capturing a little of the railway's character in the valley, as someone sharing a home with it in all weather, all seasons, running or not. These are available to view in my album on Flickr...
In the meantime, more soon...
