Commission: Ruston 44/48 in 7/8ths (3 of 4)…
Not everything I build for the garden is weathered and industrial looking. This third example of the batch has been finished as if well loved in a retired ‘preserved’ existence…
Specification is as per the red model, with the DCC digital sound and associated ‘drivability’ that it brings - and this means that large cavernous bonnet is crammed full of batteries and electronics! Finished in a rich bright green with white lining and just the lightest suggestion of use, grease on the buffers and exhaust on the roof. To see the previous models in this batch check out the Ruston 44/48 label.
It always surprises me, in a rather wonderful manner, how the mix of materials, brass, acrylic, styrene and 3D printed acrylic and nylon blend as one… I consider these models modern scratchbuilds, taking advantage of CAD based design to increase the accuracy of some parts but combining these with traditional hand made components and finishing. It’s a process I deeply enjoy, these are heart felt, unique models.
