Sentinel at Pont-y-dulais, 1981…
This week 40 years ago saw a Sentinel standing in for the usual steam locomotive pilot at the yard…The pilots duties were to weight every wagon destined for travel over BR to one of the nearby power stations, and shunt the 9-10 wagon rakes that arrived from the colliery into longer trains for internal transfer to the washery. Here at the head of a rake of ex BR HUO internal use wagons, the crew will be looking forward to taking shelter from the frequent summer showers at brew time.
This model is a Hornby Sentinel re-worked with the Planet Industrials detailing kit. Pont-y-dulais is my OO scale micro industrial layout. More soon…
