PCA in PiChem service...
In 1987 PiChem leased 10 PCAs for their tripolyphosphate traffic between Severnbank works and their customers throughout the UK...
This photograph, taken in 1988 shows that the wagons did not all gain the PiChem logos at the beginning of the contract, in fact even as late as 1990 there was at least one wagon still unlettered. These distinctive curved French built wagons added a little glamour to many BR Speedlink trains in the period! The works Sentinel is seen working a loaded rake back to the BR exchange sidings on an overcast summer's day.
The good news is there is a complete back story available for you all to 'steal' and we've a few sets of the PiChem decals left at Light Railway Stores - the wagons unfortunately are now sold out at Accurascale although they do come up second hand from time to time - the grey seems to have been a less popular livery. I'd love to see what you do with them, more soon...
