PI Chem to lease converted ex cement PCAs...

In 1987 after they went off lease from Rugby cement, 10 of the French built STS bulk cement hoppers were rebuilt for the leaser by WH Davis for bulk tripolyphosphate traffic...
PI shunted, Sentinel number 2 with the STA shortly after delivery for service with PIChem in 1987.
As Tiger’s depressed centre wagons were also used for similar traffic by Albright and Wilson, PIChem were able to secure these wagons ‘off lease’ for their dedicated service between the works at Severnbank and customers such as Unilever, and Albright and Wilson themselves. Initially they saw service in unlabelled grey but we’re soon decorated with the distinctive yet timeless PIChem logo on the right hand side of the tanks. Usually kept in good condition, they saw service for only 3 years as the site at Severnbank, which had seen continued industrial use since the Second World War ceased production as the parent company relocated production overseas.
Of course, these are the lovely Accurascale PCA wagons, which will shortly be redecorated with PIChem logos, and these will also be available in the Planet Industrials range for anyone else wanting to model a fictional chemical works. More soon...

  1. I love the imaginative back story. Also, I've tried and tried and I cannot seem to figure out how to pronounce what it is that these wagons carry. Ha!

    1. A good back story can add such depth, and I know I probably over use this word, but a rich texture to the whole experience of recreating something inspired by but not prototypical.
