Still rail served...

It is 1989 and Canadian National S13u is seen switching a small local feed mill near Moncton, New Brunswick, still rail served, watched by a rail fan from the nearby road...

The S13u are a peculiar looking machine, the S13 a product of Canada's Montreal Locomotive Works, sold in small numbers to Canadian National who rebuilt a number in 1985 as S13u. 8704 is only a few years out of the rebuild program but it's days are numbered as CN has already concentrated it's MLW units out of Moncton, surely it's only a matter of time before they're all retired and sold off, perhaps that's why this lowly switcher is attracting the attention of our rail fan...

Kinross, my Canadian micro cameo is based upon Prince Edward Island, but as with Pont-y-dulais, elements of the composition are generic enough to exist in isolation, as a stage set for other locations where the rolling stock and back story convince us that  this 'could be anywhere', surely the real value in a well executed micro layout? The S13u is a Kaslo Shops kit on a Bachmann S4 chassis fitted with a Tsunami sound decoder - how can you model an MLW and not here the Alco 251! Until next time, more soon...
