Claremont memories...

Despite the passing years an occasional new photograph of the Claremont and Concord is turned up from time to time. I don't know what it is, but there is something quite special about the line, especially in the 1970s with it's plucky 44T running through town serving the various remaining paper mills on the old electric trolley routes...

However, out towards West Claremont things are a little more sylvan yet the track is never more than 8 ft from the road. In this wonderful scene we see supervisor Ken Ranney at the controls of 31 whilst Bruce Davison cuts the CN 40ft car at a customer, sometime in August 1974 - a young rail-fan looks on.

Of course, this is my Bachmann H0 scale model operating on Kinross, standing in for West Claremont at least in my minds eye. The wonderful Modelu figures really bring the scene to life. You can find more about the Claremont and Concord using the relevant label - and more on Kinross here. Until next time more soon...
