Commission: Dirty Siphon Gs in OO...
Recently completed, these four Accurascale Siphon G have been weathered using a simple two stage process to accompany the recent commission of a blue Class 47...
First thing to mention is that these models are beautiful renditions of the prototype - and whether they are worth the price depends only our outlook but I should note that even the bogies are multiple mouldings, not single piece tooling! To be honest, I think there is a line somewhere between this, and a Lima model that the hobby should comfortably adopt as 'ready to run' allowing for those interested to go further yet satisfying the detail and finish that many of us have come to expect on ready to run models.
The weathering differs on each vehicle but they were all approached the same way. First a wash on the chassis that was left to dry, then the same wash not the body wiped off and finally a wash on the roof.
The airbrush was then used to add further depth to the finish, dirt up the ends and along the roof, as well as more filth along the lower body sides.
If you have models that would benefit from a custom finish to bring them to life then get in touch (via the menu on here or via Facebook) with me for a no-obligation fixed price proposal. I enjoy working on models in all scales, all gauges, all prototypes. Studying prototype photos for inspiration and working out the best way to recreate the reality in miniature, discussing this with you and working to create something that feels as much part of your own hand as mine. Until next time, more soon...
