Llangollen steam…

It has been lovely to hear steam (and diesel) again here in the valley. One of the things I promised myself was to try and visit and photograph more of it, when it restarted…
So expect a bit more of this, from time to time. Today’s trip down to the station in the village, just a moment or two on the bikes, was to catch the passing of the steam and DMU service at Glyndyfrdwy. The DMU arrives first from Carrog, with the steam coming up from Llangollen.
Today’s service looked the same as it has done all week, with the big GWR freight engine in charge and the BR 108 DMU painted green despite having a headlight and plated head code. The coaches painted chocolate and cream, a la Western Region 1950s is a nice touch, but the lead coach was an Eastern region example, perhaps blood and custard may have been more appropriate!
These petty things aside, it’s lovely to experience the railway again first hand. I hope we see some more variety in rolling stock this autumn. More soon…
