Woodland Wanderer…
A second trip on the Ffestiniog yesterday, only as far as Tanybwlch this time but memorable nevertheless…
In all my years on the railway I’d never tried the quarry workman’s coaches… on our way to Tanybwlch we enjoyed third class in coach 19, but after speaking with the guard, who said as no one has travelled up in the quarryman’s coach, we could try it on our return, we decided to give it a whirl - this was a shorter trip with the kids and Janey’s sister and her kids too, so it was exciting to experience the rocking and rolling of this two axle short wheelbase vehicle! Truly an experience to never forget, but perhaps one to repeat again one day…
The weather wasn’t great, but the views along the line are beautiful and all had a lovely day. I’m back in the workshop again today working on Renfrew Wharf and a 16mm Simplex, but still very much ‘on holiday’ as a Santa Fe CF7 is running in on Beaverbrook before being repainted in Florida Central Pinsly red… but that’s another story. More soon…
