Steam returns to the valley…

It’s been so long since I heard the sound of a steam engine across the river in our narrow section of the Dee valley that I’d forgotten how wonderfully part of the environment it sounds…

Unlike the cars on the A5 with their high frequency tyre noise,me specially when the the road is wet, and droning exhausts on fast cars and stung bees on motorcycles- the train sounds peaceful, solid, part of the environment in a mindful but deliberate way. It’s not hurried, slowing for the approach to the level crossing at Glyndyfrdwy but it’s purposeful beat has me transported back 25 years watching the line with my best friend Tim. Go travel if your visiting as the society needs all the help it can get. More soon…
