Ruston LB sound in the garden…

The first pair of Ruston LB are leaving for their new homes this week, yet yesterday morning saw some wonderful blue sky and perfect garden railway weather. It seemed rude not to do a quick demonstration video of the cut down example out on the Dyfrdwy Tramway...

The video shows the model on the tramway at the slab mill siding, before being started up and driven up to the quarry, and then shut down. The DCC decoder not only controls the sound but also the driving characteristics with plenty of momentum it feels like you're actually driving the locomotive.

I've described the project, and in particular this model on the blog previously so won't repeat details here - suffice to say these are bespoke handmade scratch built models using modern tools and techniques. They're a joy to design and then breathe life into through assembly and finishing.

The lovely sunshine also showed off the weathered finish quite nicely. I am very pleased with how this project has come out. An ad-hoc parallel project is now a small batch of Ruston 44/48s, if you'd like one of those in either 32 or 45mm gauge then get in touch, ahead of next years 32mm only Ruston Proctor.
Until next time more soon...

My YouTube channel is the place to find workbench and modelling updates. I try to make sure there is at least a new video every month, please do take a look and subscribe.

    1. Luckily for your wallet yes, but perhaps sad you can’t enjoy model railways in the outdoors at all. Take care Dirk, best James

  2. The machine has truly a wonderful sound. And also the trundling along the line looks great.

    1. Thank you, it is very realistic, the experience of sound and momentum is greatly enhanced by the control system.
