Saturday shift…

The Saturday morning shift at Pont-y-dulais was often a fairly relaxed affair for the railwaymen, sorting out the last of the Friday afternoon loads, ferrying these down to the weigh bridge and onto the exchange siding, and then bringing up the empties dropped off by BR for the week ahead...

The empties were only delivered three times a week, and kept in the small yard behind the weight bridge just north of the road bridge. On this morning we find the leased ex Southampton docks 07 on a rake of loads just after morning break.

Our photographer, in the long tradition of getting their car into shot managed to grab this before the train shifted out of shot, one wagon at a time over the weighbridge.

Pont-y-dulais is still my favourite micro layout, and certain actors really seem to set off the tones of the scene beautifully, and this Heljan 07 is one example. I enjoy working with clients to distill their needs with layout design, aiming to produce a scheme that gives them as much pleasure, as my own projects give me, if you're interested then get in touch using the contact form in the menu. In the meantime, until next time more soon...
