Commission: Dolgoch and coaches in 009…
Over the years the most popular and frequent commission to grace my bench has been the rather lovely Talyllyn Dolgoch. Both Fourdees and Narrow Planet versions, both bring the basic toy like Bachmann model to life…
The coaches were not the Westcliff Works examples, instead some my customer had sourced from eBay. Quite nicely printed, they use underscale wheels but that’s not to noticeable once assembled. No problem for couplings or consideration of consistent coupling height had been made though - which caused a headache or two… Peco examples finally added but with the lifting tails cut off. I should also mention that the roofs were a little warped and I struggled to get these to reset even with hot water, but these small frustrations do not, I think, detract from the overall effect of the rake of five carriages.
If you have some models that you don’t have the confidence, skills or time to tackle then I’m happy to provide a fixed price, no obligation proposal. Get in touch to discuss and begin making your dream model a reality, until next time, more soon…
This most recent example also came with a full rake of coaches to finish of a customer in North America. I have finished them all with my usual Humbrol enamels, Fox lining transfers, Endon Valley coach markings, Modelu crew and of course, Light Railway Stores etched plates.
As per the prototype these have only ‘Talyllyn Railway’ heralds on one side, the platform side…
For others interested, colours are:
Locomotive: Precision BR green (I’ve used Humbrol 3 in the past, but the current incarnation seems closer to this)
Carriages: Humbrol 220 red and 62 framing. Humbrol 110 for drop window frames and footboards.
