Mosslanda: Denton Road - In colour…

It is like I’m colouring it in, using my old Rexel Derwent crayons. Pastels and brighter shades too, adding to the story but as yet, not homogenised under weathering. Progress on Denton Road…

Of course this colouring in is with my trusted Humbrol enamels, shades chosen to be complimentary. Even so, without a wash of Humbrol 28 or weathering 33/98 to tone things down it feels a bit garish in parts… I’m going to put trust in the process though and hope the results will be more subtle.

Denton Road is demanding a different approach to my usual modelling. The nature of its construction, in layers of both depth and height, means working out what needs to be finished in what order. Normally our structures are placed towards the end of the process but here, everything is prepared for one big push that will leave just the track to be ballasted and the overhead catenary to be fitted. I’m enjoying bringing each piece to life, whilst also reflecting on the composition as a whole. I do hope this staggered progress continues to fuel your own interest and perhaps encourage something similar? At the heart of this - literally - is the exploration of story telling using a simple, cheap, household shelf. Mosslanda. Where can it take you? Until next time, more soon…
