Penpont on holiday…

Penpont Dries was not built as an executive toy or micro concept layout, it was made to travel with me when space was tight. This week it has travelled to Pembrokeshire on holiday…

Sitting with a cold beer, blue sky and the sea (in the distance) after a long day. Sat quietly shuffling China Clay wagons. Sat enjoying the smooth quiet motion of the Graham Farish Class 08, its yellow rods dancing and tracing regular patterns. Sat playing trains.

Just the tonic, or well, beer in my case.

Momentarily day dreaming of a longer railway for this magical little shunter - but then just as quickly realising that this is all I need. All anyone needs?

I love model railways.
Until next time, more soon…

  5. Taking the hobby on holiday is great, especially something minimal like Penpont. I quite often take my other hobby (amateur radio) with me; a radio about the size of a pack of cards, earbuds, a Morse key and a wire antenna does the job. I've taken the odd wagon kit to build before now, but not yet a layout...

    1. Yes this one is so tiny - it was lovely to un-pack it again and marvel and enjoy the models themselves too, as they live in the box otherwise.

  6. A lovely timely reminder that yes, even I have space for a model railway - it's time for me to stop the excuses and get on with it! A nice bottle of Hobgoblin Gold would go down well too, but in my case will it spur on the motivation or help to prolong the procrastination? Have a good weekend!

    1. Glad to encourage Mike, everyone has space - if they are able to accept the compromise. Find a prototype and scale that marry to the space you have and you’ll enjoy it!
