Gerald Road: Rapid progress…

Gerald Road is for sale*. The recognition of its fate becoming clear last Tuesday - I feel relieved yet it still hangs heavy, even working on it this weekend wasn’t without its baggage…

This weekend has seen a good deal of progress - track ballasted, basic ground cover complete, roads complete, the tree greened up and planted, warehouses and houses at the back glued in place, glazing started on the pub and office - a lot in a short space of time. Focused energy, instead of the malaise caused by the mixed feelings the project evokes, a concentrated burst to create a finished product I’m happy with and can move on to a new home - much as with Pont Dulas (which went for similar money earlier this year).

I’ve fitted the backscene but not cut the holes for the fiddle sticks, allowing the future owner to decide if this is just a 3D painting or an operational scene. That does allow photos like this, along the layout behind the pub, a view not available to the naked eye, but found by the iPhone!

I enjoy taking photos through a project - especially towards the end they show all the details still to be added. To the causal bystander this one might appear ‘finished’ but to me, I see lots of small things to tick off - and then the careful choreography of details to avoid a cluttered feel - but enough to bring things to life…

*For Sale - once complete in a few weeks the cameo will be for sale for £600. The Class 03, match truck, two 16t vans, three Presflo and pair of United Molasses tank wagons will be sold too - a complete set of stock for the project, £250. Collection only. If you’re interested get in touch in the usual way.

I expect there are another few weeks on this one - perhaps at the expense of Denton Road in the short term - for now though, I hope you’ve enjoyed these photos, until next time, more soon…
