Pont-y-dulais 1985...

It’s a cold spring day in April, 1985 and Bronwen, the B2 Peckett is found working at Pont-y-dulais...
The colliery closed the previous year but extensive stockpiles meant coal was continuing to be removed from the site for the next two years. Bronwen is easing the train down to the washery at the BR interchange on the Cardiff to Swansea mainline, not overly taxing and just drifting by the shed here, clanking and hissing away, alive in a way the replacement diesels are not. Your photographer arrived by bike this morning, and in the tradition of the great Ivo Peters, he has a habit of leaning it against a wall or fence and just in shot...
