Ruston LBT in 7/8ths...

A few years ago I built a batch of locomotives in 7/8ths, the Hudson Hunslet, and to date I’ve built 11 of them with the last one nearly complete. The time has come to start my next project batch build project, the air cooled late model Ruston LBT...

Working from drawings and reference material to begin CAD work.
The prototype were the last of the type, and I was initially drawn to the example at Oakley quarry at Blaenau Ffestiniog pictured in Michael Messenger’s book... it has the distinctive oval front grill, and open sides with protective mesh covers, unlike the earlier LA. Further research showed examples in all types of UK industry and across the gauges.... my own model will feature extended frames (used for both wider and narrower than 2ft gauges) and be cabless, possibly with an exhaust conditioner...
Welsh Miners and their faithful Ruston named 'Pearl'.

This initial batch is planned for the summer, it will be either 32mm or 45mm gauge, multimedia construction with 3D printed components, etched brass parts, laser cut plastic and scratch built details. It will include on board battery and radio control, and be available with or without a cab.
You will be able to specify details like sanding gear, frame extensions, paint work and weathered finish. My customers enjoy an engaging build process where I share regular updates as work progresses. Each model is hand assembled and finished in my workshop in North Wales, and will include written instructions and be numbered and signed. The price will be £1330 including insured UK delivery, design work has started and prototype parts ordered, you can reserve your model for just £130, and the remaining balance will be split into four instalments through the build.
