Victory: A closer look...

As a follow up to my post earlier in the week I thought I would share a few more photos of our Planet Industrials ready to run project, the Kerr, Stuart ‘Victory’...

This is our first project as a manufacturer and we’re really really excited, with the scope and specification absolutely nailed the quality of the prototype is very good indeed. I’ll annotate the photos as we go...
The cab interior based upon prototype drawings as of course non survive in preservation. A mix of injection moulding and etched parts, this will be separately painted in production, in the raw materials it looks superb...

The connecting and coupling rods are cast metal, chunky with real presence. Combined with the RP25-93 profile wheels and axle ends there is a real quality in the running gear.

Flexible and detailed brake gear, and a pair of screws to drop the chassis out of the body for fitting DCC. You can see on the ‘top side’ of the chassis a cut away in the metal footplate for the circuit board not fitted on this Engineering sample.
Turned brass sprung buffers and chimney cap for finesse, cast metal footplate and boiler for weight. A great well thought out combination of materials.

The fine bars on the rear windows are wonderfully recreated. The lamp irons will be factory fitted because otherwise they’d be a fiddly add in. The sandboxes and toolboxes (not pictured) will come as separate parts for customers to fit.

Side on, it’s got real presence. We chose Victory because we loved it, it’s got such a chunky purposeful outline. I cannot wait to see the decorated samples.
So there you are, I hope you’re all as excited as we are, the limited offer of the discount will be closed when we sign the decorated samples off for production so get your pre-orders in soon. In the meantime, more soon...

  1. Looks very impressive James. Yes, very excited about this and looking forward to seeing it working a train of open wagons on my layout. Is this one a working prototype?

    1. It is indeed a working prototype... I’ve done a video, which should be up in the next few days.

    2. Brilliant. Saw the video yesterday, the loco looked impressive. Even unpainted it has great presence.
