Friday Update: Fourteen Five Twenty-one...

Greeting from a wet and miserable North Wales, yet good news this week, Janey and I have had our first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine...

In the workshop an order from Shapeways arrived with the first prototype 3D printed components for the Ruston LB project. These have turned out well, and it spurred me on to complete the start of the 2D CAD and consider the chassis design. From top left to bottom right... we have

  1. Engine side (front left, cab right),
  2. Engine side (front right, cab left),
  3. Fan shroud for cooling fan, with belt,
  4. Brake shoes, axle boxes and wing nuts,
  5. Cab controls (various including throttle, direction, gear and brake levers),
  6. Gearbox casing, shown with bevel gears and motor in place.

It was also exciting to see a copy of the June Railway Modeller, thanks to a customer who is a subscriber, mid week. I wrote a piece about Planet Industrials and our journey from narrow gauge kits to ready to run industrial OO models. Go pick up a copy...
In the background the CAD work and some errands have swallowed up a lot of my time. This weekend I’m hoping to get the LED lighting installed on Beaverbrook, we will see how things pan out. I hope you have a good day, and relaxing weekend, see you next time, more soon...
