Dark mornings at Severnbank Works...

One from the archives today, as the dark mornings have started in 2021 they are echoed in this photograph of the old PiChem works at Borcester. The caption lightly pencilled on the back of the print reads…

13th October 1987 - Severnbank Works (Borcester).  A cold dark autumnal morning, early start to catch the PiChem shunter collecting the inbound empties for refilling.

Unfortunately the photo is uncredited, part of a collection I purchased for research purposes some time ago, I love the grain in the black and white print, something that adds such period atmosphere compared to todays picture perfect high resolution phone snaps!

In actual fact this is my small micro box layout ‘Mollington Road’ pictured with a reworked Hornby Sentinel wearing the Planet Industrials dress up kit, shunting Accurascale PCAs (with a back story) lettered with PiChem decals available from Light Railway stores. Until next time, more soon…
