Up on Allan Street she sends me…
It’s a cool spring morning on Prince Edward Island, as in all of living memory, propane is brought over to Borden from the mainland on the night ferry…
That means it’s the early turn’s job to drag it over to the small yard at Charlottetown for storage until it’s required. They often take the opportunity to switch out loads and empties at the propane dealer on Allan Street before heading back to Borden, and this morning our photographer has captured one of the railways ex Milwaukee SDL39s that have made the island home since CN sold them off in 2000.

That’s fantastic. I used to photograph from either the Experimental Farm’s property across the track or over on Allan Street but I’m loving this chance photo from within(!) the property!

Chris shared these photos again with me in response to me cheekily sending him the title image just titled ‘Charlottetown 2004’ or some such… our hobby is shared and enjoyed with friends, Chris and I find inspiration in such similar scenes that it’s amazing that my own model railway on a shelf in North Wales can remind him of scenes he witnessed 30+ years ago in another world. We truly have a remarkable hobby here, and one to share, cherish and explore. Until next time, more soon…

Chris wrote about how this propane dealership and its service from CN would make a neat shelf layout.
