Alan Sewell's visit to Chard Junction...
Alan kindly got in touch with another of his 'visit' reports after yesterday's blog on Pont Llanio and it's dairy. I have reproduced the photo and report here for you all to enjoy, thanks Alan...

Date of Visit 6 October 1967.
Black and red Ruston 4wD no. 183062 of 1937 (with “gold” UD insignia on bonnet and cab back sheet) was coupled to three six-wheel milk tankers. The loco arrived here new.
The yard was small sandwiched between the SR branch and the plant. As the visit was brief the impression was of a track to load milk and one or two to sort wagons and that appeared to be all. Connection to the branch was at Chard Junction station.
Although the loco appeared similar to the small 48DS of the 1940’s it was actually a standard gauge version of the normally narrow gauge 44/48hp “class” built between 1936 and 1941

Until next time, more soon...
