On Video: Hilton and Mears - All you need...

"From the creators of the 3 to 7 podcast, another instalment of classic Hilton and Mears, introducing 'All you need'..."

5606 is a real locomotive. A Bachmann GP7 that has moved from here to there to our railways. Chris and I explore what fuels our friendship - a mutual love of model railways - told through the eyes of some 'old prints' and memories of Beaverbook.

This is the second 'multimedia' edition of Hilton and Mears. Do let us know if we're on the right track, we know it's not polished but it's from the heart.

  2. Hi James
Really enjoyed the video and as Stephen said it is “brilliant”. I particularly liked the way the prototype and the model were blended together and that also showcased the quality of your modelling. Although you may have mentioned it before some info on CN/Tera Transport/HMLX might have been useful in interpreting the video and while it is perhaps obvious, pointing out Beaverbrook exists both in the real and model world would have made even more impact.

I did like the switching sequence very much, hearing the GP wind up was music , and it inspired me to go into the loft and switch the pulp mill for a fifteen minutes or so!!

I also agree very much with Chris about the way railroads bring us together in so many ways and the relaxing (most of the time) effect of modelling them.

    Best regards
    Alan
