For sale: BIG CLEAR OUT Layouts / Locomotives / Books...

I'm finding my personal modelling mojo suffering a little at present and am finding it hard to focus on what I'd like to achieve next with regards a model railway...

NOW ALL SOLD - Thanks for looking!

In these moments, a mix of nagging doubt and frustration with the status quo I have discovered that clearing out old projects can have a massively rejuvenating effect on my modelling. With that in mind, here are a number of items I have for sale at present, layouts, locomotives and books, all scales and gauges, British and North American. Serious interest via the contact form in the menu or Facebook please. As items are sold they will be noted here, to avoid me needing to re-post this time and again. Thank you for your support, I hope you can find something that takes your fancy, and that helps me out too!

Kinross in H0 - £300 SOLD
Kinross is a just 100cm long, 23cm deep and 20cm tall. Presented in a cameo shadow box with integral lighting it represents a North American branchline with spur to small warehouse. The layout has featured in Continental Modeller and as a backdrop for my CN PEI models in Railroad Model Craftsman. Collection only from my workshop in North Wales where a viewing of my other projects and layouts can be made.

Books

Ian Allan Motive Power Annuals 1987 and 1988 - £5 (excluding postage)
Two volumes of the popular A5 sized hard back annuals, in used but presentable condition with no loose pages. Edited by Brian Morrison these are perfect for beside the bed or sofa for that casual reading.

Great Western Steam in the West Country - £4 (excluding postage)
A book from my Grandpa's old collection, a Bradford Barton hardback from 1976, a collection of black and white images from across the West Country with a mix of mainline, branchline, passenger and freight. 2-3 photos per spread, well laid out, lovely book to put beside the bed.

Mollington Road OO - £200 SOLD
Back for a second chance as the sale earlier in the year fell through, this small box layout is presented in a wooden under bed blanket box (60x40x14.5cm), printed with the layout name to give a suitably industrial feeling. Just 57 cm by 37 cm and DC powered with two small Y turnouts it provides a lovely place to display your industrial models or spend 10-15 minutes shunting. The box could be modified to allow the track feeds to be fed from outside allowing the layout to be operated without removal. All structures were scratch built and represent many hours work. The road is fully detailed as well, with a realistic camber, patch work repairs and drain covers. The small engine shed includes some interior details and signage. Collection from my workshop in North Wales only, as the layout could be easily damaged by courier or mail.

Canal Street Wharf 006.5 - £200  SOLD
This layout features an industrial tramway set in the 1960s built using the Busch H0f track system but modelled in 4mm/ft. Just 42 cm by 30 cm, and supplied in an aluminium 'flight' case (46x36x16cm), a river side wharf on one side with a country scene on the other, inspiration from various small narrow gauge railways with a smattering of the Wantage Tramway. Recognising that the scale/gauge is unusual I can also supply a Busch battery controller, two wagons and a locomotive for an additional £150. Although theoretically it could be posted, I would prefer for this to be collected from North Wales.

BR Freight Services in Focus (1982) - £3 (excluding postage) SOLD
A great little window into the tale end of vacuum braked wagon load freight and the trainload march that followed. All BR blue, and material from across the country. I learnt a fair bit and discovered a few 'new to me' lines from exploring this title.

Another Bradford Barton hard back from 1976, a lovely collation of black and white images by Adrian Booth with more of an emphasis on locomotives in the north and Scotland.

This hard back is an interesting potted history of the development of the Trafford Park estate and industries there in, as well as the transport system (canal and railway) of the MSC alongside, it covers the railways within the park. Comments

  1. Thank you to all of you for a fantastic start to the 'big clear out' this morning with many of the big ticket items gone already. I will be digging through cupboards seeing what else might be available next week, if there is something in my collection you've always coveted by all means make me an offer. This isn't an 'everything must go' situation, but I'm ready for new possibilities and a new more agile approach to my hobby - as a result, I need to keep things fresh and stop holding on to the physical items worrying about memories - memories are made in the mind, not through possession.
