Friday Update: Eighteen Eight Twenty-three…
Holidays here again this week but between trips out with the kids and down to Pembrokeshire I've managed to push the Ruston LB project on with the first pair (destined for the same home) nearing primer stage...
On my own bench the recent arrival (Susquehanna GP40) has had a replacement fuel tank sorted of the correct size, and I've modified it to better represent the real life 3040 - filling a fuel gauge on one side and adding a retention tank on the back. Alongside the Hatton Barclay conversion with a cut down NCB style cab is progressing. This now needs the black elements hand painting and the yellow airbrushed on to each end ahead of wasp stripes!
It was exciting to see the new Planet Industrial kit releases featuring heavily in Model Rail this month too, see below - these two kits are available now through Light Railway Stores - alongside the original Peckett cab conversion. A new batch of the NCB cabs (above) are due imminently into stock, just waiting on the etches for the cab roof vent and plates - check all of this out on the LRS website here.
As well as driving all over the place I have done a bit of walking and one afternoon mid-week managed to watch the second train of the day returning to Llangollen, pictured here at the village station. Nice to see a four car train, albeit not as full as I've seen it other times during the holidays.
As the weekend approaches holiday time continues - so how much personal modelling time I manage is questionable. I'll leave you with some good news though, that the new book (and old books reprint) are due to go to the printers this month - delivery expected end of September with a prevailing wind - we shall see but it's very exciting. Until next time, more soon...
